Short version: Tepiair is designed to be private by default. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type into a calculator is ever sent to us or stored. We don't require accounts, we don't sell personal data, and the only information we collect is what's necessary to serve the site and (where applicable) display advertising.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Tepiair ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit tepiair.com (the "Site") or use any of our free calculators and tools (the "Services").

By using the Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. We've written this policy to comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK Data Protection Act 2018, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA, and other applicable privacy laws.

This policy applies only to Tepiair. It does not cover any third-party websites we may link to, and we recommend reviewing their policies separately.

2. Information we collect

Tepiair is built to collect as little information as possible. Below is exactly what we may collect, why, and how it's used.

2.1 Information you give us directly

  • Contact form submissions — if you use our contact form, we receive your name, email address, subject, and message. This is used only to reply to you.
  • Email correspondence — if you email us directly, we receive your email address and the content of your message.
  • Voluntary communications — for example, if you send feedback, a bug report, or a partnership enquiry.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Log data — like most websites, our servers and those of our service providers may record your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, and the date/time of your visit. This is used for security, debugging, and aggregate analytics.
  • Device information — screen size, device type, and language preference, which help us serve a consistent experience across devices.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 4 for the full details.

2.3 Information we do not collect

Important — calculator inputs stay on your device Whatever you type into a Tepiair calculator (salary figures, mortgage amounts, distances, garden dimensions, personal financial information, or anything else) is processed entirely in your browser. We do not transmit it, store it, log it, or share it with anyone. There is no server-side calculation, no account, and no "history" of your use of the tools.

3. How we use information

We use the information we collect strictly for the following purposes:

  • To operate the Site — serve pages, ensure they render correctly, and keep the tools working.
  • To reply to you — if you contact us, we use your details only to respond.
  • To improve the Site — aggregate, anonymised analytics help us understand which tools are popular and where bugs exist.
  • To display advertising — where applicable, third-party advertising partners (such as Google AdSense) may serve ads on the Site. See Section 5.
  • To comply with the law — where we are legally required to retain or disclose information.
  • To prevent abuse — detect and block malicious traffic, spam, or misuse of the Site.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not send marketing emails, and we do not add contact-form submitters to any newsletter.

4. Cookies & tracking technologies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They're used to remember preferences, keep you logged in, measure traffic, and (in some cases) personalise advertising.

4.1 Categories of cookies used on Tepiair

4.2 How to control cookies

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you:

  • View and delete existing cookies.
  • Block all cookies, or only third-party cookies.
  • Set exceptions for trusted sites.
  • Enable "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signals.

If you disable cookies, some parts of the Site may not work as intended. The calculators themselves will continue to work, as they do not depend on cookies.

Where you are in the world matters If you're in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we (or our advertising partners) will only place non-essential cookies with your consent, collected through a compliant consent banner. If you're in California, you may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA — see Section 11.

5. Google AdSense & third-party advertising

Tepiair is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense and may work with other reputable advertising partners to display ads on some pages of the Site.

5.1 How Google AdSense works on Tepiair

Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to Tepiair and other websites. This is known as interest-based advertising or personalised advertising. These cookies:

  • Help deliver ads that are more relevant to you.
  • Help advertisers measure the effectiveness of their campaigns.
  • Do not contain personal information such as your name, email, or address.
  • May be disabled at any time via Google's Ad Settings (see below).

5.2 The DoubleClick DART cookie

Google uses the DoubleClick DART cookie to serve ads based on your visits to Tepiair and other websites. You can opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting Google's Advertising Policies & Terms and adjusting your Ad Settings.

5.3 How to opt out of personalised advertising

Opting out of personalised advertising does not mean you'll stop seeing ads — it means the ads you see will be less relevant to your interests. You will still see non-personalised ads on the Site.

Our commitment to advertising transparency We only work with advertising partners who comply with applicable privacy laws, including GDPR and CCPA. Advertising is clearly marked on the Site, and we never disguise ads as content. If you believe an ad on Tepiair violates these standards, please report it to hello@tepiair.com.

6. Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand aggregate traffic patterns on Tepiair — for example, how many people visit the site each day, which calculators are most popular, and which pages have technical issues. These tools are configured to:

  • Anonymise IP addresses so that individual visitors cannot be identified.
  • Not store personal information such as names or email addresses.
  • Not cross-reference analytics data with other sources for the purpose of identifying individuals.
  • Respect opt-out signals such as Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control where technically possible.

Analytics data is used only to improve the Site and is never sold to third parties.

7. Third-party services

Tepiair uses a small number of reputable third-party services to operate. Each is bound by its own privacy policy, and we list them here for transparency:

These services may process your IP address and other technical information as part of delivering content to your browser. We do not share any personally identifying information with them beyond what is technically necessary.

8. Your calculator inputs

We want to be explicit about this because it's the most important privacy feature of Tepiair:

Calculators run entirely in your browser All 16 Tepiair calculators — from the Coffee Cost Calculator to the Mulch Calculator — perform their calculations locally in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you enter is transmitted to our servers, logged, saved to a database, or shared with anyone. Closing the page removes the data from memory; refreshing clears your inputs.

This means:

  • We cannot see what you calculated.
  • We cannot reconstruct your inputs from server logs (we don't have any).
  • There's no account and no saved history — by design.
  • You can use Tepiair with confidence, even for sensitive financial or personal figures.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the UK, or Switzerland, we process your personal information under the following legal bases:

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights. Tepiair respects these rights regardless of jurisdiction — email us and we'll help.

  • Right to rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask us to delete your information.
  • Right to restrict processing — ask us to limit how we use your information.
  • Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object — object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Right to withdraw consent — withdraw any consent you previously gave (e.g. for cookies or ads).
  • Right to lodge a complaint — with your local data protection authority.

Because Tepiair collects so little personal data, in practice most requests relate to contact-form submissions. We'll respond within 30 days of receiving a verified request.

11. California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives you specific rights regarding your personal information.

11.1 Categories of information we collect

Over the past 12 months, Tepiair has collected the following categories of personal information:

  • Identifiers — name, email address (only if you contact us).
  • Internet activity — IP address, browser type, pages viewed (via server logs and analytics).
  • Geolocation — approximate location derived from IP address, at the city level only.

We do not collect: Social Security numbers, financial account details, medical information, precise geolocation, biometric data, or information about your sexual orientation, religion, or health.

11.2 We do not sell your personal information

Tepiair does not sell personal information in the traditional sense. However, under the CCPA, sharing data with advertising partners for personalised ads may be considered a "sale" or "sharing." You may opt out at any time:

  • By disabling personalised ads via Google Ad Settings.
  • By enabling Global Privacy Control (GPC) in your browser — we honour GPC signals.
  • By emailing hello@tepiair.com with the subject "Do Not Sell My Info".

11.3 Your California rights

  • Right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it.
  • Right to delete personal information we hold about you.
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights.
  • Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect any).

12. Children's privacy

Tepiair is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Our calculators are general-purpose tools intended for adults managing their personal, professional, or household affairs.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact hello@tepiair.com and we will delete it promptly.

13. International data transfers

Tepiair is accessible worldwide and uses service providers (such as Google and Cloudflare) whose servers may be located in the United States, the European Union, or other countries. When we transfer personal information across borders, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
  • The UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
  • The EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable.

By using the Site, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own.

14. Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect:

  • HTTPS encryption across the entire Site.
  • Access controls restricting who can access server logs and contact submissions.
  • Regular software updates to our hosting environment.
  • Minimal data retention — the less we store, the less there is to protect.

No website can guarantee absolute security, but we aim to keep our footprint small enough that security is manageable. If you ever believe your information has been compromised through Tepiair, contact us immediately.

15. Data retention

We keep information only for as long as necessary:

  • Contact-form submissions — retained for up to 24 months, then deleted, unless ongoing correspondence requires it.
  • Email correspondence — retained as long as needed to resolve your enquiry, then periodically cleaned.
  • Server logs — retained for 30–90 days for security and debugging, then rotated.
  • Analytics data — retained in aggregate form; individual sessions are anonymised.

16. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally — for example, if we add new tools, change service providers, or if the law changes. When we make material changes, we'll:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
  • Where appropriate, note the change on our homepage or contact page.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
